Managing performance

The following white papers will help you to manage performance in OpenX:

  • Performance monitoring:
If you administer an OpenX server (or any server, for that matter) it can be invaluable to install performance monitoring software to help with troubleshooting and performance testing, for monitoring daily use, and to plan for future expansion. OpenX recommends the Ganglia monitoring application. This white paper provides installation instructions for it.
  • Performance testing:
This white paper describes how to use JMeter for performance testing, and includes some free test scripts you can run.
  • Tuning MySQL:
This document offers tips to improve performance on MySQL.
  • Prioritisation engine:
In OpenX, the Maintenance Prioritisation Engine (MPE) calculates the delivery priorities of High Priority Campaigns (HPCs). For almost every OpenX user the MPE works exactly as designed. However, if you are one of the rare users who finds that HPCs are not delivering quite as they should, this developer white paper explains how the MPE works and suggests some steps you can take to adjust your delivery process.
