Adding a zone
| Note: This article is for an old version of OpenX. The latest OpenX documentation can be found at the following URLs: |
To add a zone, in the Website properties > Zone overview tab, click the Add new zone link. In the Add new zone page, follow these steps:
- The zone must have a unique name. If you do not enter a value in the Name field, OpenX names it as the name of the website and adds the suffix "-Default".
- In the Description field you can enter information to make it easier to see what the zone is used for, for example Full banner (468 x 60).
- Select a zone type.
- Except for text ad zones, you must specify the zone size. Only banners that fit within those dimensions are displayed in the zone. The Size menu includes all standard dimensions, defined by the IAB.
More information: The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) provides detailed standards and guidelines for online advertising. - To display a banner which is not a standard size, select the Custom size option at the bottom of the Size menu, and enter values in the Width and Heightfields underneath. You can enter specific values or you can use a wildcard ('*'). For example, a 120x* zone indicates that all banners with a width of 120, and of any height, can link to this zone.
When you finish defining the zone, click the Save Changes button. OpenX opens the Advanced page, where you can specify additional properties for the zone.
